As the name Android 8 Oreo sounds sweet, there is also a lot to chew on as it brings an array of new functions and capabilities for the developers. Here are five hidden features of Android Oreo that we think it might be helpful for you!
1. Clearing phone’s storage
A quick overview: Android Nougat was officially released in August 2016, and we’ve seen a continuous rollout on Android flagships ever since. One year later, Google has finally released Android Oreo 8 with the latest version. The new OS update introduces features like notification dot, app shortcuts, and a smart text selection.
For the clearing task, we mostly depend on an external app. Though multimedia files, app cache and others consume a certain amount of space, which are not visible on a standard file manager. All you need is simply go to Storage in the Settings option and press on the blue icon, which says free up some space. Bam, your device will remove the unwanted files to clear the memory space.
2. UI System tuner
This feature was initially launched in the previous Android Marshmallow. The system UI tuner gives additional control to the overlook and feel of the Android OS. To enable system UI tuner, open your notification shade, tap and hold the gear icon until it starts vibrating. By using this feature, you can add or remove the app icons like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Battery.
3. Turn on Wi-Fi automatically
As we all know, updating apps on a cellular network require a lot of mobile data. So instead of doing that, you can make your smartphone to connect to an open Wi-Fi whenever it is available. To enable this function, go to Settings, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi preferences and choose the first option. Similarly, push on the third option if you want to get notifications about the availability of open Wi-Fi networks.
4. Autofill
For some people, remembering various passwords for different apps and accounts is a painful process. But don’t worry, Android 8 Oreo sure knows a way to help you. Go to Settings > System > Languages & Input > Advanced > Autofill service and select Autofill with Google. This feature will prompt to remember your password. For the next time, it will autofill the username and password on specific accounts and apps.
5. Snooze notifications
Notifications are one of the best parts of Android OS. However, when you are in a middle of something important, those pushy notifications might be a little bit annoying. Thanks to Android 8 Oreo, you can snooze and postpone them for a fixed amount of time. To do this, swipe from left to right and click on the amount of time that you want to snooze the notifications. However, there are only 3 options to select: 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours of snooze time.
Other improvements to Android 8 Oreo
