Android Nougat – iOS 10 – Windows 10 Mobile: fierce OS battle
Android Nougat, iOS 10 and Windows 10 are the latest operating system (OS) versions of smartphones. If you are considering towards which one to choose, we would like to compare some categories of the three types for your reference.
Price and variety: the winner is Android
It is obvious that Apple do not manufacture budget devices. The latest product iPhone 7 Plus starts at 770$, which is quite exorbitant for many people. Speaking of Windows Mobile, they do have various prices, however, their specs can’t be compared with those of an iPhone or an Android phone.
With Android devices, you will be offered a lot of choices. From pricey devices namely Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S to low cost devices with decent specs. There are many famous and prestigious brands in the market including: HTC, ZTE, Sony, Huawei and LG. That’s the reason why Android is the winner in this category.
Apps: the winner is iOS
According to recent statistics, there are 2.2 million apps on Android, 2 million on iOS, but a modest number of 600,000 on Windows Mobile. While Android has more apps than iOS, iOS offers a convenient platform for app developers. That’s the reason why newer and helpful apps appear on iOS. Besides, the design of iOS apps is also more uniform and stylish.
OS updates: the winner is iOS
All three systems are updated regularly, but not every OS is updated in a timely fashion. In three types, Apple keep a greater control over the software, and all compatible devices tend to upgrade to the latest version. For instance, iOS 10 is available from iPhone 5 to later generations. Apple’s iOS is the only mobile OS that offers consistent and timely software updates and security. Other OS, it is not all devices are updated to Android Nougat and Windows Phone.
Photo backup: the winner is Android
With Android, you can automatically backup all of your photos and videos. Furthermore, iCloud on iOS offers less free space at 5GB, while Google Drive offers 15GB for storage. Google’s Photos app even lets you backup an unlimited number of photos or videos at standard size for free. If you own a Google Pixel phone, then you will get free and unlimited photo and video storage at full resolution.
Voice assistants: the winner is Windows Mobile
Cortana, Siri and Google Now are the voice assistants of Windows Phone, iOS and Android respectively. Cortana falls somewhere in between Siri and Google Now. There’s an attempt to push things further by offering access to functions within apps and reminder prompts linked to specific people in your contacts. Cortana can also work contextually within apps, and seems to handle voice recognition well. Microsoft has really taken its time getting Cortana right and you can even now download Cortana on iOS and Android.
Fierce battle between three OS
Among three kinds of OS, Android Nougat and iOS 10 seem to be winners. You are offered a lot of choices in terms of price, brands and apps. We hope that you would find a suitable smartphone.
