Smart watch has been a popular item in the hi-tech market recently, with many models benefiting not only time telling, but health moderating as well. At the IFA in Berlin this year, which is currently taking place, Asus announces their first smart watch – the Zenwatch, produced in partnership with Google.
The Zenwatch runs on Google’s Android Wear platform. Weighing 175g, this is the first wearable device Asus will ever release. At the first glance, it does look like a decent wrist watch, with the strap made of genuine brown leather. Also, the watch is made with premium materials. We can say that Asus Zenwatch has some styling into it. The company even says their Zenwatch has over 100 combination watch face choices to fit your mood and personality.
Asus Zenwatch has a curved AMOLED display together with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as screen protector, a perfect combination. It is a 320 x 320 p resolution screen with pixel density of 278 ppi. The body of the watch is made from stainless steel, which gives off a nice feeling about it. The internal configuration of Zenwatch is also impressive, with 1.2GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB Internal Storage and Bluetooth v4.0 connection.
The Zenwatch can be paired with any of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher smart phones or devices, but of course it works best with Asus products such as Asus Zenfone. It can automatically unlock your phone by its “watch unlock” function through Bluetooth or just by simly tapping the watch face. It can mute an incoming call with your whole hand covering the watch, when you are too busy or just do not want to answer.
“Find my phone” is another feature on the Zenwatch which allows users to locate their phones instantly. The phone will ring through its connection with Zenwatch. Moreover, the phone’s manager application can also do the same with the Zenwatch to make it vibrate and flash, just in case you also forget where your smart watch is.
Remote camera is also an interesting feature. The Zenwatch with Asus Remote camera allows users to take photos from angles their smart devices’ viewfinder can not be able to capture. From then on, you may be more satisfied with many creative photo shoots, as no restriction on angle is placed. This is found very convenient in taking group photos, as you can adjust the angle to fit all the people into the frame. Presentation Control turns the watch into a remote control or as a time manager, enabling users to use it in their presentation during a business meeting.
The Zenwatch can also acts as a health moderator, through its Wellness Manager function. By using a 9-axis Sensor and a Bio Sensor, the Zenwatch monitors and tracks a range of health-related statistics such as how many steps taken, how much calories burnt, activity duration, heart rate, exercise intensity and relaxation level. You can then view an easy-to-understand relaxation score based on relaxation-level measurements.
The Asus Zenwatch will be released around Quarter 3 or 4 this year, and it is really a good device to use. However, many will consider it a rather expensive one for a smart watch.
