ASUS Gaming Phone: 6GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and more!

In an interview at the Asus Philippines’ 100th store opening, Asus’ Global CEO Jerry Shen said that it could be “expected” that the company will release a phone designed for gaming. Unfortunately, there’s no word regarding the release date for this possible device. Perhaps this news isn’t surprising to some, that the company would want to release a gaming phone. After all, Asus already has experience in the PC game industry due to its Strix and Republic of Gamers brands. In fact, the ZenFone 5Z released earlier by the company makes an excellent gaming phone in its own right.

This phone comes with 6GB RAM, a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display, and a Snapdragon 845 chipset. (Click here to know more about Asus Zenfone 5Z specs, release date and price). Other recent gaming phones releases have tried to differentiate themselves in many ways. For instance, the Razer Phone earned some success due to its 120hz screen refresh rate which makes playing games a very fluid experience. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Black Shark is hedging its bets on a plug and play gamepad plus a huge 4000mAh battery for more extended play sessions on the go.

Of course, it’s easy to speculate that Asus would want to throw in some serious hardware inside the device but this might not be enough. Since just about any contemporary device can run most Android games quite well. Thus, the company would probably have to employ an exclusive feature to make its gaming device stand out.
