Nokia has partnered with Google and commits to having all Nokia smartphones join Android One program. Let’s see what we get so far about this updates!
Nokia smartphones join Android One program
Nokia’s making some waves in the Android market with several phones at affordable price points with really good specs. In addition, Nokia phones offer a very clean and well-performing version of Android, both Nougat and Oreo updates. At the launch event, HMD Global said all Nokias from Nokia 3 and above would be part of the Android One program. The new Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus ship with the Android One “version” of Android — currently, 8.0 Oreo.
In details, this version should pass an extra level of scrutiny from Google in terms of performance, functionality and user experience. Also, the program includes a full suite of Google’s apps and services. Moreover, having Google’s stamp of approval helps to give potential buyers the confidence in the Nokia brand (2-year platform updates). Besides, the full list of Nokia Android One smartphones are Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8, Nokia 8 Scirocco.
Moreover, phones under this project are the first to receive the monthly updates. Moreover, the Nokia phones will get Android P once it arrives. Meanwhile, Nokia 1 is an Android Go phone while Nokia 8110 isn’t running Android in the first place.
What will happen to other Nokia smartphones?
Nokia phones that did not arrive with Android 8.0 out of the box will get the new Oreo 8.1 in the following weeks. In details, the new OS brings detailed notification settings, picture-in-picture mode, Instant Apps and plenty of new emojis. What do you think about Nokia’s future plan?
