Nokia and T-Mobile announced a $3.5 billion deal to build their 5G network!

Previously, Nokia published less than stellar results in Quarter 2 of this year. While the network business was slow, the Finnish brand is supposed to pick up as carriers start building their 5G networks in the last half of 2018. Today, Nokia finally announced their multi-year partnership with T-Mobile. In details, T-Mobile is the brand name used by the mobile communications subsidiaries of German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG.

The brand is now active in Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United States. On the other hand, Nokia new network includes both wide-coverage 600MHz bands. Moreover, it also has the high-capacity 28GHz millimetre wave bands. Additionally, the Finnish brand also issued a second press release to share their expectation in the next quarters. Notably, they foresee better financials in the second half of the year.

In details, they expect an operating margin of 9-11% for the full year with earnings per share of €0.23-0.27. This 2018, the Finnish company started to focus more on their telecommunications infrastructure and IT business. This business also includes the implementation of 5G and the IoT. On the other hand, they also acquire Alcatel-Lucent, a French fixed, mobile and converged networking hardware, IP technologies, software and services company. On the other hand, Nokia continues to add the scientific research organisation, Bell Labs, into their R&D department. With such a big team, it’s safe to say that Nokia is now ready to join the race for 5G roll-out and expansion, especially on their handsets!
