Huawei is working with BOE to release its new foldable phone

For starter, this is not the first time we’ve heard about Huawei working on a foldable smartphone. The first rumor brought out two months ago when the company registered a device with a flexible display. Today, a Korean news outlet claims that Huawei is collaborating with Chinese display maker BOE to launch this first commercially available foldable handset in November. In details, the handset features an 8-inch flexible display and rival the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 later this year.

On a side note, BOE is also working on four different smartphone designs with another company. Samsung could be one of those clients, but since the Korean giant would probably do its own flexible panels, it’s more likely that either Xiaomi or Oppo is the other. The latter has already filed a patent for its own version of a flexible handset. Other potential partners of BOE are Lenovo and ZTE as they have experience with flexible devices in the past.
