4 reasons designs of flat smartphones are not practical
99% of current smartphones are flat! Flat smartphones look beautiful and professional. But the truth is such designs are not really practical in many aspects! Below are some reasons why we say so
Flat smartphones: Poor comfortability
The first disadvantage of flat smartphones is that they don’t fit our face structure. Human faces are undeniably round. That’s why every land line phones are traditionally curved so as to fit both your ears and your mouths conveniently! That design is also applied in flip phones for better call quality. But current smartphones, which are mostly flat, cannot offer the same thing. Often, the microphone of flat smartphones is a few inches away from your mouth. That’s why phone makers enhance the microphone so that it can record louder sounds. However, that also results in more noises from the environment!
The second reason why flat smartphones are not practical is that it doesn’t fit your hands really well. Remember the game controllers? They are curved for some reasons! Curved device are easier to hold, because the normal position of your hand is not flat (you have to stretch your fingers to make it flat). A flat smartphone doesn’t feel attached to your hand than a curved smartphone! Moreover, flat smartphones are easier to flip from your hand.
Third, flat smartphones with large screens are quite challenging to use. Phone screens are getting larger and larger. And with a 6-inch smartphone or above, there’s no way you could reach all of your fingers to all corners of the phone with just one hand. Curved smartphones, on the other hand, are bent so that you can reach all areas of the display more easily.
Flat smartphones: Poor screen protection
Last but not least, the design of flat smartphone is not very protective of the screen. Have you ever wondered why there are more and more screen protection technology? Because flat handsets fail to protect their own screen! When you accidentally drop your flat phone to the ground, there are 50% chances your phone drops in the face! But curved smartphones only drop on the back!
